It's a slippery slope, isn't it? If protestors are aggressive or disruptive, then they may be terrorists capable of fatal violence. If they were inclined to such extremes, then they need to be investigated vigorously (after all, we don't want grass roots equivalent of taliban extremists running rampant in the good ole U.S. of A.) If extreme monitoring protects the general population from tragedy, then it is necessary to prevent criminal activity even if it limits freedom of speech and other things we Americans value... If the tactics amount to harrassment, then the ends will have to be seen to justify the means... That is, after all, policy now with the Patriot Act established.
