@George,
I might be a bit confusing in what I've written. I did setup my pre-draft ranking. I think what I'm trying to ask was answered. Is it only useful as an import when and if I was doing another draft participating in another league?

{Edit: I think you just answered this. I remember last year now...The preferred list of pre-draft players comes up while live draft is on and you can over-ride in real time?}

@Ragman,
If are at the live draft there is an option on the screen to use the Yahoo
rankings or your own. Both sets are available in a pull-down list.

If you are not at the the live draft, the system puts you into autopick.
The following is from Yahoo Help.

When you're unable to draft players for yourself,
our Autopick system will make intelligent choices for you.

How Autopick works

Autopick is used when:
* Your Autopick league draft status is Ready
* If you're not present for all or part of your live draft
The Autopick system first selects the highest rated available player that
can fill one of the open starting positions on your roster.
Once the starting positions are filled, Autopick determines the appropriate
bench positions and fills them.
All player selections are based first on your pre-rankings and then by the
Yahoo Sports default rankings.
Specific positions can't be designated to be selected in specific rounds of
the draft. All autopicks are made based on your pre-ranking.

Example: It isn't possible to tell our Autopick system to draft a shortstop in
the 1st round, a relief pitcher in the 2nd round, etc...

@George,
Thanks so much for your detailed explanation and patience, George. Perhaps others might be helped by this, too. The specifics of how auto-pick works and override function are exactly what I needed.

I'm not clear on the time, not that I can draft live, but how much more time I have to noodle about players. One of my pages says all times are mountain (right for my location) and that the draft is at 5:30, which, if I remember means I have to stop noodling by 4:45, soon.

Are those of you in the eastern area having the draft at 7:30 EST? Doesn't really matter - I'm pretty well cooked what I've chosen so far.

OK, I'm done, before I do any more damage to my shepherds on the run.

Hey, that's a poem.

@ossobuco,
All right!

I'm not unhappy.

Well, maybe re Brock Holt, but I did have him on the list. I wanted Correa. Had him last year in the lick of time before he got famous.

I missed the draft, due to circumstances outside of my control. Which sucks.

But ...

I'm quite happy with the results. My predraft rankings came through for me in several key areas. I'm happy my SS has the most power in the lineup. Not thrilled with my catcher, but hey, it's a catcher. I also reached for a SP a whole lot sooner than I would have had I been live, but not unhappy with Bumgarner.

Unfortunately for Los Fancypants, she drafted an AZ Outfielder in the 3rd round who hurt himself yesterday sliding into home, and might miss the entire season.

@Ticomaya,
Osso is right in that my pitching looks solid but Pollock's slide really hurts. We'll be underdogs at least for the first part of the season
