Does anyone know who is in first place?

I am vaguely aware that it is not me.

I may be firing three pitchers after today.

Just kidding, I think.. I should probably fire the manager.

@ossobuco,
I enjoyed playing Panch0. It could have turned out a lot worse..

@ossobuco,
I lost to FancyPants. Fortunately, #2 McDonald's lost by a bigger margin.
The 'Necks are still in 1st.

You got it all wrong, George.
As far as I understand RJB, you didn't win, it's McDonald's who lost.

@ossobuco,
Yeah, they should rule Sundays out of this game.

On an aside, in another league I managed to pick Greinke, Keuchel, Wainwright and Archer all in one team.
Great rotation, I thought.

I was dead last on ERA.
So what do I do?
I drop one of them of them and pick Happ, who's having a good season.
What happens next?
Happ is blasted with 7 or 8 earned runs in 2 innings.

@fbaezer,
I empathize as this tale is the mirror image of what's happened to me in another league. Same thing with my just picking up Happ and having him go into never-never land.

To elaborate further, in this league... With my being an ardent Red Sox fan (knowing their recent history). I thought Buchholz waliukd be a safe bet. I held him until about 2 weeks ago. I dropped him thinking he's a mess, after all, 6.00 is not a good ERA, right? And as soon as his next turn, he had a decent start.

Then of course, having Price as my key SP - one pitcher who/whom good things are expected - has been less than thrilling and my theoretically decent roster. As for my hitters, don't ask.

Somehow, this motley crew of mutts will get me to .500, one way or another.

I've officially retired which means I have more than a bit of spare time on my hands. In addition, its been rainy here in Virginia for the past week or so (Hungry Mother weather).
I have been learning to use Google Sheets.
One little project has involved the A2K Fantasy Baseball game.

Yahoo gives us the standings on Monday mornings. In addition, we can get updates on the matches in progress on a daily or hourly basis.
But we can't get an update of the standings on a real-time basis. I have been working on that.
If you are interested in seeing what I have developed so far, please PM me with an email address.

@realjohnboy,
Sure, I'm interested. Of course, it may take me a while to understand things.

I remember some years ago now I tried to figure out calculating who won mathematically. It took me forever and a day (or maybe it was simply an hour and felt like a day and a half). Of course, I immediately forgot how. I must have found out how to do it on some website, which of course I also forget. All I remember is that it made sense at the time.

Will pm.

As re my recent post on once knowing exactly how they calculate who is doing well or less well in the fantasy games and then nearly immediately forgetting the process, I was sort of floored at being in first place this particular Monday. Nobody should worry, this will pass soon, especially since I knocked off my 6th SP on purpose. Doh! and I'm not sorry yet.

My season:
Win
Win
Get whipped and sent near the cellar
Win
Win
Win. Notice that all my wins are by one or two points.
Get whipped again.
Barely win.
Win.
Take another whipping.

@fbaezer,
Am presently on tenterhooks re two of my best and brightest young pitchers, Nelson and Nola, who rewarded my courage in picking them and letting go of other pitchers by having quite good games........... except recently, when they both have lost control. In matters of baseball, I am a control freak. So, today, I'll either be a happy woman or very discouraged..

I'll be in Chicago for a week and I'm not sure how much attention I'll be paying
to this. But I will be going to an actual baseball game there (White Sox).
