Just learned that vice-grips in Spanish are "hombre solo". Pretty apt I'd say. Any other interesting tool names in Spanish?

Is hombre solo the official word, or is it sort of like Americans calling a bottlecap opener a "rubber husband"?

You got me there but I suspect the latter. Most American brand names are used but "pronounced in Spanish". Sometimes a general catagory is identified by a single well known brand name. For example all chewing gum is called "chiclet".
