What will your reaction be if you are suspended?

I don't necessarily disagree. I just hope frank doesn't allow his ego to self-impose permanency.

Frank doesn't contribute much and uses far too much space; he's also an asshole when fighting, but he has his saving graces and I would like him back too. Maybe we can do the opposite if the "dare" he proposed before leaving: If enough people ask him back he will return?

@Olivier5,
I'll bite. What is his saving grace?

@roger,
Frank may have some annoying habits and some character flaws (don't we all), but he's willing to speak his mind and he's not stupid. You can't say the same about a lot of people who are still "here," eh?

@roger,
For one, he does remind us that we can never be sure of anything. I know it's pretty obvious but still, there's a role for "Dr Obvious", however small. For two, he's got a decent sense of humour.

Good point, Ollie. That's one quality that certainly seems to be in short supply round these here parts, eh?

I've been suspended for a week for seemingly using "inappropriate" language.

I admit that was the case.

As for a reaction, the suspension didn't bother me the least.

I saw it coming and I even wrote about that.

So, I don't have even the smallest shred of regret.

When you stand up for your opinions and feelings no amount of "punishment" will stay in the way of expressing them.

No hard feelings at all.

Life goes on..

I don't think so. Timur has confirmed he was suspended (and we can assume it was a result of the row he had with frank) and I can confirm that frank was suspended (not that too many people thought otherwise)

I can also tell you that he is very firm in his decision not to return to A2K.

@timur,
As a naughty language girl, I'm very interested in wtf you said.

Has the post been removed? Was it merely descriptive profanity or directed at a person? We're you offered explicit text as evidence?

Apologies for so many questions. Smile

He has been very firm in such decisions in the past. Time will tell.

@edgarblythe,
So this thing about "showing the assholes the door", it has happened before?

@Olivier5,
Moderation was firmer in the earlier years of the site. After the last revamp things loosened up - and hawkeye's "wild west" evolved - and some longtime posters left. I don't know numbers or anything but it became a noticeably different site.

I think it's worth a re-read of Robert's recent posts if you're interested in this.

And perhaps he will reconsider his current decision, but right now, it's firm.

@Olivier5,
I don't recall any "purges" so it must have happened before my time, and if it did, it would appear some people eluded the enforcers.

Haven't found them but never mind. Indeed only time will tell, in the present case of Frank.

@Lash,
No post has been removed as far as I can see.

My words were directed at one person.

My notice of suspension was laconic at best, no other explanation than it was because of "inappropriate."

Interesting. That's pretty much what frank said.

@Finn dAbuzz,
The difference is that I didn't attack or insult him initially.

I didn't lie about it later on.

I didn't misrepresent his stance on agnosticism and didn't judge it.

I didn't pretend to know what other people think.

I didn't assert that atheism is the same for every atheist, a monolithic system of belief.

Somehow I would have guessed that many would be more curious as to what "communities" will be in the new format. I would like to see a "positive attitude" community. People counting their blessings, so to speak. If nothing else it would be interesting to read, unless of course some are just wiseguys and offer stupid postings. So, in such a forum, bad manners would not be the only reason for suspension. Sarcasm, preposterous posts might also be a cause for being suspended, at least from such a specific community.
