which olympic event has its origins in a battle fought between persian and the greeks?

discus, shot put, javelin or marathon?

I would vote for either shot put or javelin, since they are both martial in nature. What a silly question when the answer is so obvious. It seems like a question from a school textbook (and not a very good one).
