power-stroke and grab

The imminence of death is reflected in every last power-stroke and grab of the great money bosses”

what I got is: power-stroke = power practice = using power;
grab = snatch.

Am I on the right track?

sounds right to me.

I see a power-stroke as a decicive move or attack.

And the grab is most definitely the attempt to gain more power.
