Marriage proposal decision

I have been talking to a girl over phone(mostly chat) for past two years. She was my team mate who left company 2 years back and joined government sector. I liked her as she is dedicated and honest in her speech.
She talks very less by her own. We rarely meet as well.

One day she told she like me and asked about my view.
I gave her my opinion that I too like her after one month. She then asked me(after merely 1 month) whether she will tell same to her parents. I said No as I we never talked about it and how come this will be taken to parents.
She is a very reserved girl and rarely speak out of emotions. As their parents are seeing for the alliance she was worried and asked me to take decision quickly.

My view was without even talking about long term relationship how come we can take a decision about telling to parents.

Anyone Kindly advise on this.
