So reluctant to speak to him

There was this guy in my old school who used to call me horrible names, say rude things to me etc... back in year 7/8. But apparently he was just 'crushing on me'.Towards the end of school he started talking to me more and being friendly to me. I didn't mind it too much though and I did speak to him a bit. Now we are in college, when he sees me he says hi to me and it's obvious he wants to speak to me but I'm so reluctant to talk to him now because I remember how he treated me. -Is this normal?

Boys in 7/8 don't know how to express their emotions, so they go to teasing and prodding girls because they are scared stiff of girls.

When you talk to him, remind him that he teased you and you thought he didn't like you. Tell him you expect him to be more grown up now. (Then watch to see if he HAS grown up.)

@sariaxx,
I'd watch closely for signs of rudeness or negative treatment especially if you disappoint him - like he asks you for a date or to meet and you can't for some reason. How does he handle disappointment with you?

His prior treatment may just be easily chalked up to immaturity - or it may be a sign that he reacts in mean ways to women who don't give him what he wants.

I'd give it a try, but I'd be wary until he shows signs of normalcy in that area.

@sariaxx,
Your feelings are perfectly normal. However, you might choose to give this guy a chance. After all, people change.

How much have you changed since year 7/8? (what is that, 5 years ago?)
