I've always thought he was an incompetent lush who never contributed anything helpful to any political dialogue, so I don't think his leaving will have much of an effect. Especially since the clown named McCarthy they want to replace him is cut from the same "go along to get along, don't rock the boat, don't do anything " cloth.

@snood,
I am very much afraid that we may be very sorry if one of the tea baggers is the speaker of the house. I was tickled to see him go too, at first thought, but than began to think about his possible replacements. This could be a pyrrhic victory.

Snood I read everything I can find but still it isn't clear why

Edited to remark Victor Valley Daily Press today (Sept 27), "Boehner's departure raises question: Can House GOP be led?" suggests he compromised too much for their leadership
