Someone help me with sentence structure

Does this sentence make sense? What should I edit to improve sentence structure and grammar

"More importantly, I found it gratifying to teach kids on various health issues that affected Japan by giving health flyers to the community.

Bock it's pretty good. Just a couple of things--

Yes "importantly" is used as an adverb. However it's a 21st century invention, that "-ly" sounding a little bit silly to us older guys

I'd skip the "on," but maybe that's just me

The end phrase sort of dangles: We need some input here from the wiser set
