Simply: it's childish. Especially when you're a governor, someone who should be an inspiration and an example for the Californian people (and beyond California actually).
The fact that what was meant as a humorous remark has been taken so seriously should be an indicator that something is wrong.
Not only is he the Governator, he is Ahnold!
Replace 'Arnold' by 'Kerry' and than we'll see whether you still find it a 'humorous remark' McGentrix
If Kerry called the democrats in California "girlie-men", I would laugh about it just as hard. Maybe harder because it wouldn't be expected.

It would of course be "different"
Just like when Cheney used profanity
or when Dennis Miller spoke in sexual terms about Kerry and Edwards.
Red,
You are overreacting.
I dont recall anyone objecting to the line when it was a staple on SNL,because everyone KNEW it was a joke.
Now,when Arnold uses it,and you can tell he is joking if you actually LISTEN to the comment, you and the rest of the usual suspects on the left scream bloody murder.
I think you need to relax, and take it the way it was meant.
Either that,or contact the people at SNL and complain about their usage of the term also.
Mysteryman
Mysteryman, last time I looked, I hadn't noticed that any of the SNL cast had been elected to public office, nor one as high as California's governor. I would expect better from a governor who represents all of the people of California, including Democrats and homosexuals, than I would of a skit actor.

MM honey you don't think there's a wee bit of difference between the SNL comedy group and the Republican Gov. of CA?
You mean claim bloody murder like the Republicans did about Whoopie Goldberg who isn't even a politican? How many times did you hear last week the words "hate fest"?
Sorry MM but he's supposed to be above such childish comments. It wasn't a joke it was a slam because he wasn't getting his way.
Just once I'd like to see the Republicans have the courage of their so called convictions and say "that was wrong, I'm sorry". Arnold isn't free to make those kinds of comments anymore and he should grow up.

Or when kerry shot someone the bird at the vietnam vets memorial.
Red,
I didnt see the incident with Whoopi,I only know what CNN and ABC said about it.
You are right, she isnt a politician, but the two Johns WERE there, and even Kerry said that gathering represented "mainstream America".
Both Johns seemed to endorse her comments, and since it was a fundraising,if they had really not thought like she does they would have said something.
BUT,since it was an official Democrat ecent, then it could be argued that Whoopi was speaking for Kerry, especially since he didnt refute the statements.
So,if you are really that offended by Arnolds statement,I would suggest you clean your own house first.Or,if you want,I will find you similiar kinds of quotes made by Dems.
Meh. What do you expect when you have someone elected with no real political background?
The fact that he was nominated governor of a state with one of the largest economies still amazes me. It speaks volumes about the mental maturity of those who elected him.
What Whoopee said was stupid (to say in public), however there are bumper stickers that say the same thing in mainstream America. For Kerry to have jumped on her would also be stupid, he's not responsible for her comments. To denounce them later is not necessary; the public can decide on it's own whether or not Whoopee Goldberg was inappropriate and whether or not it reflects on Kerry. it does not fall on Kerry to have to comment one way or another. Conversely,I haven't seen him defending her comments, either. What Arnold said was stupid, as well. Especially from a man who used steroids to enhance his "girlyman" features. And he himself IS responsible for his comments. I don't see why the party has to defend him. It was obviously inappropriate.
That being said, I find it a bit silly to get so upset about either one.
A little too PC from both sides, if you ask me.
