I not certain if this should be in 'start a discussion' or just ask.
I've been asked as part of a remit to look over a pending press statement that details a partnership between another company and ours with regards to the development of a specific product.
The original text has something along the lines of 'Company X and company Y unveils Product Z' and then goes into the products specifications, potential market and then a small amount of information relating to each company's location, background, staffing levels and specialist know-how.
I have not corrected the word 'unveils' to 'unveil' despite others also engaged, suggesting only the latter is the right spelling, I have given my reasoning that since the two companies are to be considered partners specifically over the development of product Z to the those readers of the press release, plus - to a lesser extent - the wording emphasises the current present status of the project, using the spelling 'unveils' both these points better than 'unveil'.
I can see the validity of the argument from the other staff, and 'unveil' on paper looks more correct, but it would be good to have this one confirmed by an expert in English. The press release has already gone to print, so any recommendation would be to satisfy my curious mind alone.
Having looked online before joining this forum, it appears there are a few instances of 'unveils' used in similar circumstance, though with the inclusion of 'partnership' in the title, neatly negating the need to choose.

If any of the auto correct engines are to be trusted, a statement like 'Lambert and Butler unveils a new cigarette' gets corrected by removal of the 's'.
Thanking you in advance
