@lmur,
Forgiven. I couldn't see your face for the visual clue. Ordinarily, I'd have let it go as sarcasm but it felt like you weren't kidding. In this thread we occasionally talk football play stuff.

The Shotgun formation is an NFL and Canadian football offensive formation that has the QB standing a bit further back off the line of scrimmage (about 5-7 yards) allowing QB more targets and a bit longer time to develop a play. For most of Peyton Manning's career he's operated from the shotgun.

Here's a detailed explanation, if you're interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgun_formation

No hurry.

@Ragman,
Thanks for that. I admit the finer points of the game are beyond me. Enjoy the athleticism though.

@Ragman,
Rags, I'm figuring you watched the game on tv or other means, maybe heard the blabbermouthed game announcers - did you (or other posters) pick up when they went to the shotgun formation? I'm trying to circle around what lit up the Bronco's offense, am betting it was the change to shotgun and Manning's comfort as a result - a conjecture.

@ossobuco,
Definitely it was the return to the shotgun, IMHO. It was like Peyton and the offense was let out of jail.

Right now the panz is worrying about his lower ball joints.

@Ragman,
Did the game start with the shotgun? I thought there was a change in Peyton somewhere along the way, but not at the start, and my data available was subpar - I didn't have a play by play of any length to go back and look at, or a good commentary to read (I'll look harder for that for tomorrow's games). Just wondering if it was a what-the-hell-lets-go-back- to-what-he-knows choice by Gary Kubiak, or what/who, during the game.

I've been reading about Peyton's dealing with great loss of arm strength yadayada, his starting to markedly fail, and so on. Bah humbug, at least re immediate type failure.

@ossobuco,
no, the change happened after they were down by 14 points. Somehwere after the half..but don't quote me on that.

I think he's never had what would be known as a strong arm..his passes always had a little wobble to them...but they were accurate. The talking heads all are hyping that exaggeration..about the strength of his arm. He's had a few injuries that might affect (leg ..hamstring issues)...but he'll recover as the season goes on as long as that O line can protect him.

The problem, as I see it, seems to be with coach and Peyton not being on same page. Elway will get them to work out this balancing act. This won't last too long. Kubiak had better let him work through Peyton employing the shotgun..or else he's going to be out of the playoffs before he knows it.

@ehBeth,
I've been being quiet because I didn't want to jinx the Raiders..

Yayyy, Raiders. Long time coming, this game.

So happy for Carr and for Cooper.

Still, 26 seconds left..

OK, then.

Meanwhile, I've amassed 4 wins. This beats the time I only got 3 of 16 some years ago.

@ossobuco,
Oof, tough for Romo, and the team is now a certified mess.

Wondering why they kept Weeden after last year's one game effort by him.

Well, with just Monday night's game, we have a tie. JPB, Lightning, CowDoc, McGentrix and ehBeth are all tied with 9 wins. All have Indianapolis (as do we all), so it will come down to the tie-breaker again this week.
