Hi everybody..how often do u you use these words : excursion, ramble, hike and stroll? because sometimes I got counfused giving the right expression!
thanx who helped in my previous thread , I am in my preparation phase n I hope I could make it..
All the words "mean" walk, but the nuances are very different:
"Excursion" implies a rather formal outing, perhaps with a planned lunch, certainly with a set destination and set time of departure and arrival.
"Ramble" is much more informal than "excursion". A ramble through the countryside is a very casual affair. Incidently, I've never heard of a "ramble" through an urban area.
"Hike" implies strenuous walking, more often than not up and down hills.
"Stroll" is very leisurely walking. You can stroll to the mailbox, stroll through the park, stroll along the riverside. You can definitely stroll in a city, window shopping as you go.
