It may be a biblical question; but you have twisted it. Note what Jesus says about how we should view our parents at Mark 7:11
Quote:
Further, he said to them: “You skillfully disregard the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. 10 For example, Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Let the one who speaks abusively of his father or mother be put to death.’ 11 But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or his mother: “Whatever I have that could benefit you is corban (that is, a gift dedicated to God),”’ 12 you no longer let him do a single thing for his father or his mother. 13 Thus you make the word of God invalid by your tradition that you have handed down.
Our love for God should exceed our love for our parents, but not remove it.

@neologist,
I know that's what this verse says. But this verse says it a little more biblical than you did.

Luke 14:26-27
26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.
27 "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Do you know what you are saying? Compare it to 2Timothy 3:16.

@neologist,
2 Tim 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Some verses are for the milk understanding like the ones you post. And some are for the meat understanding like the ones I post. You haven't learned the difference yet. Here is the way they fit together in the meat.
What your going to have to decide is if your going to abide in the milk or go into the meat.

Luke 14:26-27
26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.
27 "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
(NKJ)

Matt 10:37-38
37 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
(NKJ)

Mark 10:28-30
28 Then Peter began to say to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You."
29 So Jesus answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's,
30 "who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time-- houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions-- and in the age to come, eternal life.
(NKJ)

Matt 10:34-36
34 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
35 "For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';
36 "and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'

A scripture may have more than one application, especially prophetic scriptures; but to aver that scriptures may contradict is patently false. Should you hate your wife, Squeaky? (Ephesians 5:25) your children? (Luke 11:11)

I am sorry to conclude, Squeaky, that you appear hopelessly trapped in your delusion. Try not to drown in the milk.

@neologist,
Are you saying them verses are wrong??? Because that's what it sounds like. Well even if your afraid of the meat. What ever you do don't criticize it, they will cost you. You know what it says about those who abide in the milk , and that is just what you are doing.

Heb 5:12-14
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Assuredly. BTW, I've been in what you call the meat understanding since April of 1973.

Others here do it too, it is usually done in the attempt to diminish people who say things that they either cant or dont want to deal with.

It would appear so sometimes. I find it a bit baffling to ask a question and then people just... Seem to disappear sometimes.

Are you sure? Why did you reject them verses then? What do you think the meat is?

lolol You should have felt like a hypocrite right after you posted that. You have never posted any facts yet. But your always there with a cheap criticism. That doesn't have nothing to do with the Word of God. Again why are you even here?

Really Squeaky? What have you posted other than page after page of scripture? With out even attempting to help anyone understand these "great revelations" you've had. That alone is selfish, if you do indeed have an actual revelation, that is. Either way, God did not give us the word as a sword to cut down those we see as "less spiritual" than us. That is exactly what you do, over and over. Do you really think He is pleased with that?

Who wields a sword, Squeaky?
Is the Christian sword the same sword as used by the opposer?

@neologist,
Squeaky, like Hawkeye is a very stupid exploiter and abuser. Neither of them are at all bright so they pick on the weak and vulnerable. They're both trying to make up for some huge deficiency.

You don't let people like that know anything about your personal life because all they're interested in is throwing it back in your face in the most painful way imaginable.

Tread carefully.

@Squeakybro,
*sigh* Yes squeaky, I am sure. Irregardless, I'm strangely speechless right now. Not because of you. Just... I dunno. Can't seem to find nothing to say about nothing. Even in the real world. But I will say this... God is love. If you are not displaying that love towards others as Jesus did... You've missed some really important stuff. I do pray for you too Squeaky. That God will reveal His infintate love towards you and everyone to you, despite yourself. I'm outty for now. Cya. Smile

@neologist,
You have admitted you don't have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. I share with you and demonstrate the Holy Spirit and show you the relationship I have. Now look at your response. Your judging the Holy Spirit and how He relates to His followers. Don't you think you should first make a relationship with Him before you judge Him.
