Autonomic Restrictor, General Anxiety Disorder

Hi i have a question, I read in a textbook that people with GAD avoid negative images as they concentrate all their attention on an upcoming problem, and thus restrict their autonomic nervous system as images are needed to stimulate the ANS.

So my question is, how is it possible to concentrate on a worry, but avoid the image of a worry? how are they mutually exclusive?

Thanks in advance!

Worries may be so engrossed with feeling that they don't have assets and they may keep away from pictures that may be connected with. The treatment for this includes antidepressants drugs, cognitive-behavioral treatments, acceptance and confronting anxiety-provoking images
