-John just wants to pause ___.

Is it correct to use time above? It sounds OK to me but I can't find a dictionary example to support a transitive usage like that.

Pause can be used transitively. We can pause a film we are watching on TV from a VHS or DVD, or pause music from a cassette CD. We can pause a process or procedure. We would, however, be more likely to talk about stopping or halting time.
