Hello guys,
I am new here, and I would like to ask you an English grammatical question appeared in a TOEFL test.
Some religions have none deity but are philosophies that function instead of religions.
A. have
B. none
C. are
D. instead of religions
the correct answers is have as it appear but why have?

That should be: Some religions have no deity ...

Have, the plural form of the verb, is required because the subject, religions, is plural.

I hope I have understood your question correctly.

"no deity"
"function instead as religions"

It should be "Some religions have no deity but are philosophies that function instead of religions."
And instead of "thank you in advanced" it should be "thank you in advance".

I like the "as" suggestion better, from FBM.
