In "But it takes a lot of living to grow fully into your own wrongness. And it isn’t until you finally run up against your deepest demons", does "it isn't until" refer to "it isn't (growing fully into your own wrongness) until"?

But I failed to get you very well. Did you mean that "it isn't until" refers to "you are not ready (to find your lifelong mate) until"?

yes.

"It isn't until..." means "when this happens, then that can happen".

or, better, "...only when this has happened can that happen".
