Could you correct my sentences?
-There lived two monks in the western frontier of this province, one poor and the other rich. The rich monk said, 'Well, I have been meaning to go there by boat for many years, but failed.'

"on" seems to be the preposition that collocates with "frontier":

The present perfect continuous "have been meaning to" is correct because you mention a time period, "for many years."
@FBM,

@WBYeats,
Well, native speakers get it wrong sometimes, too. Never hurts to have backup.
