Hey all,
I would appreciate some verification on comma usage; so here is an example phrase.
"The rain continued to pour and the thunder ferociously pounded the earth, establishing its sovereignty. However, with starvation growing significantly evident, the two abandoned the cave, and began their search for food."

Also, if correcting, please provide rationale. Thanks.

Only going by feel rather than expertise...

...I would say the final comma is unnecessary.

Rational: Just sounds that way to me.
