I'm a student in English major, but my English is very poor. As a matter of fact, I don't like English at all. In addition, it's impossible for me to change my major, so do you have some suggestions for me to learn English well?

@Jessie007,
Look into Stephen Krashen's Second Language Acquisition Theory. Then apply it to yourself. You won't regret it. There are only 5 hypotheses, and they're not hard to understand. The hard part is applying them to yourself.

Also, be aware that the human brain is hard-wired to acquire the 4 language skills in the following order: Listening > Speaking > Reading > Writing. Don't mix them up. Listening helps speaking. Reading helps writing. Don't read a book to improve your speaking skills. That's very inefficient. The brain doesn't work very well that way. To improve your speaking, do a lot of attentive listening. To improve your writing, do a lot of attentive reading.

I showed this to my students this week, and they immediately understood:

I hope that helps.

No offense, weblinkindia, but this post is a good example of why not to do that. Smile
