Looks like another 3 years of government for the wealthy, for private schools, for lies, deceit, and arrogance. We've been greatly diminished as a nation by this result.

And let's not forget another 3 years of having our national policies decided in Washington.

I am GOB-smacked! Gob-SMACKED!! Gob-fuc&king-SMACK-fu*king-CACKED!!

What has happened to this goddam nation? By about 7pm last night it was ALL over - Anthony Green at the ABC crunched the numbers and the ALP was 30 seats behind! Not that Anthony is gonna HAVE a job by Christmas - 1st pre-emptive strike will be against the ABC, unreconstructed Trotskyists, every last one of them.

All I know is that when my children come to ask me to distill the wisdom of my life and times for them, they're getting this:

What the hell is going on antipods? Do we need to send Jimmy Carter to oversee the count?

Sadly, the count will be good.

Usually a few seats need recounting - cos someone wonders.

VOTE counting began today in Afghanistan a day after a historic presidential election that saw a massive turnout tainted by allegations of fraud and an opposition boycott.

Afghan boycott is "collapsing" according to a BBC newsflash I just got.

deb - I am a hollow shell of a man as of now. I honestly believed that a child could see thru the sort of tripe/hype the Coalition were peddling. I still do, but it is still a fact that those children don't vote.

I'm nominating Stilly for the Disposessed party.

Hey! How come no-one's cheering? Don't rightwingers use computers? Maybe it's because I'm in Canberra but no-one ever says they vote liberal but they'll happily say they vote green or ALP. Someone must be voting for them, I guess they're not very proud of it.

Now I've always wondered about that: how noone ever SAYS they vote for them, but still, they get voted in. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? You could be surrounded by Lib voters & not even know it! Shocked

Good Evening all,

I've finally surfaced after many hours of Cab Sav induced sleep and some stressful hours dealing with a computer which absolutely refused to again process the diabolical data to which it was subjected overnight.

I've read most of the many posts since my last visit and am pleased to see that your spirits are intact.

My concern is so many Australians ignored the moral imperatives and voted for the "perceived" better economic management credentials of the government. Ordinarily I would forgive that misperception but on this occassion the sins of the government were gross and to ignore them was criminal.

I'll be back with more comment but in the meantime I thank those here last night who reminded a lonely old man that they are not all bastards out there, and of course I must thank Wolf Blass for the sleeping draught.

<sigh>

My concern is that after all the endless lies & blatant fabrications Howard & the Libs were returned with an increased majority! What does it say about us?
No, I don't expect anyone to try to answer that!

At least you got a good night's sleep out of this, gozmo! Smile
