I have a question about grammer.
That house keeps changing hands and the new owners always_____(begin) by putting in a new fireplace.
I filled in the blank with begin,but the answer is begins,i don't know why.Thank you for your help.

As far as I can see it should be begin.
New owners are plural so begin is correct
A new owner always begins.......as a new owner is 3rd person singular

There is an error somewhere.

The new owner always begins.... , but
The new owners always begin...
