There is a guy who I think is cute. We have never talked but we work at the same place. I get the feeling that he is very shy. Very. I've only seen him speak to one person at work and he gave a one-word answer. Then again, sometimes I see him talking on the phone. Maybe he has a gf?? He absolutely will not make eye contact with me but if by chance he does he immediately looks away, with no time for me to give a smile. So the first time I walked past him today he was looking at the newspaper and I looked at him and noticed he was watching me from the side of his eye. I could be wrong but that's the impression I got. Then a few hours later he was walking outside on his break, right as I got off work. He was walking towards the door, maybe a few yards away, as I walked out the door. Upon seeing that I was coming his way-the direction to my car-he suddenly stepped off the sidewalk and headed east instead of north. I'm beyond confused.
I know he was going to go inside but as soon as he saw me outside he heads in a completely different direction of where he was headed, acting like he had to go over THERE.
Okay, be honest (and I would really like the point of view from someone who's extremely shy), but what could be reasons for avoiding me so much? Sometimes I think he looks at me when I'm not at h-but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I havent noticed him avoiding others. What if I make him uncomfortable? Yesterday he avoided walking past me too but more subtle. He's not the classic cute so maybe he's not used to girls noticing him? Or is he super duper shy and thinks I'm cute? Or, could his whole not walking past me thing him showing me he's not interested?
Ideas?
How old is this guy?
He sounds very shy, downright socially insecure.
So - it's going to be YOUR job to break the ice. Start off by asking him something about work. See if he can even relate to you at that level.
