Recently in California the Border Patrol, now known as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (BICE) has been patrolling shopping malls, city streets far from the border with Mexico and arresting anyone who looks like they were not born in the US for proof of citizenship. If none can be provided they are arrested and detained. Over 450 have been arrested so far. Many are US citizens.
