Just struggling to workout whether or not this sentence contains a one clause verb phrase or two separate clauses. Wonder if anyone could help..
Here is the sentence: 'It sometimes used them to poke fun at politicians'
My gut feeling is that there are two separate clauses going on in this sentence - 'used them' and 'poke fun'
Am I wrong? Is it two separate clauses or is 'used them to poke fun' one clause?
Thanks!
@zygotic,
It's one clause. "To poke fun at politicians" modifies "used them."
