What my own fantasizing? I do indulge - but often find it becomes merely frustrating and not fulfilling at all. I was talking about fantasy as a genre of literature though- you know something along the line of Tolkein. And you didn't answer my question!

Do you enjoy fantasy?

Yes, I do, but find less need for it now I live on my own! If you are in a difficult situation, or even a demanding one, it is good to escape into fantasy. All the same I'm fantasizing about buying a castle in Croatian at the moment.

Do you feel happy with your dwelling place?

I love the house we live in. We're renting and it really couldn't be more perfect for us. Just the right size - very old, charming farmhouse that has been totally redone with a state of the art kitchen (which is important to me as I love to cook) and a lovely private garden in the back. It's very convenient to the school, post office, library, etc. Couldn't be more perfect.

What, in your opinion, most makes a house a home?

ah, it's the little things - and of course the people within. Personal touches and a bit of untidiness here and there. Imponderable, really.

I've a friend whose mother is impossible, old, ill and cantankerous - what do you think should be done with such?

That's a hard one. I have a dear friend who's mother is much the same - due to a massive stroke - who is struggling with caring for her. She's the only daughter nearby - her sister lives across the country - so can't help out much. I don't know the answer to that. I know that I would feel it was my duty to take care of my mother or father, or any of my siblings if they needed it- but I don't know how I would stay happy doing it.

Are your parents still alive?

No, they died in the 90s. They lived well and long.

What would you expect of your old age?

I'm trying to stay really healthy because I have watched my parents struggle with diabetes and heart disease as they've gotten older. I don't want to face the same limitations they are facing - and alot of the health issues they are facing are largely preventable. I want to be like the woman in ollady's avatar - just really healthy and spry - with the freedom to travel and do what I want to do. I do think I might do a stint in the peace corps after my kids are older and don't need me on a day to day basis. Those are my hopes anyway - we'll see what happpens.

Do you have any siblings?

I have three sisters and had two brothers - one is still living, but one has died.

Do you see advantages to being an only child?

Yes, undoubtedly in my case, lots of love and all the fairly meagre inheritance - but the main disadvantage is the burden of responsibility, moral and actual, for the parents and their happiness.

Do you believe in ghosts?

I'm really not certain. There does seem to be a lot of evidence both for and against. I suppose if I believe in God, angels and otherworldy things, ghosts aren't such a far stretch?

If you could be doing anything else right now what would it be?

Certainly NOT watching water pouring into my 4 buckets and a plastic box through my ever-leaking roof, and listening to thunderclaps and police sirens. I would be on a train somewhere going into the wide blue yonder with a pleasant companion who would play word games with me!

And you?

Our friend flew back to Newquay this morning (she's very clever dont you think?)

but no rain yet here. (I presume all the commotion was due to rain....)

I would be opening the batting for England.

And scoring a century to win the match.

Could anything be better?

no, but I think you might be.

Do you always feel the need to misbehave - or does it just come over you suddenly every now and then?

Nobody can answer a question like that without defining "misbehave" and it gets a bit tricky if you try it and no kidding kiddo.

Would you like to try?

It's not tricky at all for me. By misbehave - I mean break out the shockingly innappropriate language on the acronyms.

Although, did you know that my particularly silly, immature sense of humor, actually found it funny? Don't tell anyone though....
