That's difficult, as my loyalty is loaned to several countries...

I would:

... have ensured that Stresseman lived (which would have avoided WWII and the Cold War)
... have made it abnormal to stay in one place.
... would have done away with the English monarchy for good, but instead of putting in Oliver Cromwell, I would have had someone more accountable like Burrows appointed, which would have meant that, when Charles II was appointed, the Conservative Party would not have formed!

If you had to have your own band, comprised of anyone from all time, who would be in it?

Well, I know you were hoping for different answer, but: my band would be comprised of me and my four friends - I don't need some guys I don't know to work with if I can actually choose Very Happy
Okay, I hope Michael Stipe would sing as a guest on one track on our album.

Assuming that you are heterosexual, how would you react if a close friend of same gender tells you that he/she is homosexual and (this is important part, not the first one) that he/she really loves you and can't stop dreaming about you? If you are homosexual or bisexual, please wait until someone heterosexual answers on that question Wink Oh, btw, with reaction I think more deeply: would you feel awkward for some time in company of that person, etc, etc, etc...

I would not feel awkward, but K would not date this person. I may not meet up as regularly with them as I would have, and may keep my distance, but I would remain in contact.

(On a lighter note)
Where do you live?

I lived in Warwickshire until to-day; I handed over my flat for a year, and I'm going off to live in Armenia for a year.

What do you deem the worst television programme of all time?

Big Brother, which gets worse each time they do it; the American version has to be the worst of all

What would you do if you won just $2000 (£1500, say)?

I would save it up, to finance future travels... (or, alternatively, put it in an Armenian bank and live from it for the next... 20 years.)

If a movie were being made about your life, would you act as yourself, or have someone else play you? (If the latter, then tell who.)

Well... Judi Dench probably since she's a first class actress, only 10 yrs older than me, and a Sagittarian.

And you, same question?

Do you know, I had to think about that one for about twenty minutes!

Er, I would star as myself, but I would rather put the strain on someone else... so, I'd choose Karen Kilgariff.

I am, Osso; I'm bringing a laptop. I won't be on for the first week of my travels, as I'll be in two places rather far away from internet lines; but for the rest of the journey, I'll be here Very Happy.

Good question! Hmmm.
1. The holocaust - It's horrible what one human can do to another!...
2. The Viet Nam war
3. The atrocities that happened to people and places in the Serbo-Croatian conflict. (random killings, raping, devastation of Olympic village at Sarajevo)....

What do you think are the best (top 3) inventions of all time?

I would choose:

1) I.T. and its many innovations.
2) The printing press.
3) The gramophone.

Where do you see yourself being in ten years' time?

Oh, shoot! I was answering Clary's question from the other page!!
Who or what defined the 20th century for me...
Good question, tough, but good. WWII was definitely century-defining enough, but closer to 'my time', and it may seem silly or trite, but the whole rock 'n roll / Elvis thing is a huge part of the second half of the 20th century.

Good choices! Ok, drom- on to your last question...
10 years from now I see myself (along witn my husband) running a successful business. I will have my doctorate in child psychology, and at least one more child within that time. Also, of course, happy, healthy and with my whole family, and traveling extensively!

Same question...Where do YOU see yourself in 10 years?

Erm... there's a difference between the 'realistic' and the 'optimistic' considerations of where I see myself.

Realistically, I probably would still be unpublished in the English world, living back in England, teaching with a bunch of weirdoes and being worked like a packhorse.

Optimistically, I would be in some obscure part of the world-- probably Armenia, if I liked it there--, writing for a loyal of readers for a living. I would travel all the time, build my own myth, and all my work would be appreciated by some, but not by all.

In both scenarios, I would be happily single and without a child, hopefully living around friends.

The next question is: if you were a thespian, which two roles (from books, films, tv series, whatever) would you agree to play first?

(digression - devriesj, Sarajevo was part of Serbo-Muslim conflict, not Serbo-Croatian Wink )

I would play Holden Caulfield and more or less any of Remarque's characters.

Oh, I love Holden! That's why I left it to someone else to argue that The Catcher in the Rye was crap Wink.

I could easily live without T.V.; but, being without the Internet would be very, very hard: so, I'd stick with what I have, as I can always live the rest of my life somewhere beautiful and have the Internet too, hopefully.

What is the worst book that you have read?

Ah, without the Internet, I think not; could live in a warm place with no electricity and certainly no TV, have done that in India, clean water however is another necessity. As I get older, I get used to having more labour-saving devices!

My favourite vegetable is the humble Swede; I love it. And my favourite fruit would have to be the pineapple...

Would you rather be forced to eat the same meal for the next ten years; or, in that time period, eat a variety of unusual foods, but only once?
