Interesting, that. Things have changed so much from how I was brought up... I think all one can do is to be independent, and provide for oneself, once the children have been educated and are out in the world. I don't want to depend on them, but nor do I think leaving them a house in Devon in 25 yrs time or whenever I pop my clogs would be worth NOT enjoying my retirement years. I don't think they expect to inherit much!

Do you have any offspring or animals?

You have an obligation to children from the moment they are here to as long as you can stay in one piece whatever else you are into.

How can anybody think otherwise?

Someone might think otherwise because they have had different life experiences which have led them to a different conclusion. I personally believe I have an obligation to my children as long as they are alive - but I'm not sure that I don't agree with Clary in terms of material goods and how they are acquired. I think it is important for children to learn to be self-sufficient financially-I also think it is important for a woman to be able to find her niche and what will make her happy - especially after she has dedicated years of her life to trying to help a husband and her children find their happiness.

If you don't have children yet - is this something you look forward to or have decided to forego?

(just an addendum to what you have both said - of course you have an absolute obligation to support and love your children for ever... but I took it as being financial)

Oh yeah - it'll be good for 'em.

What does neither mean - you don't have them, don't want them, but aren't going to forgo having them? I'm confused.

Spendius - Tell me what you mean.

What do you mean by I'll choose my way either way - and what do you mean by neither?

(I'm truly not trying to be dense - I'm just confused)

This is not the first time spendius has confused an A2K poster.

Does anyone remember the first time he confused me?

English football (soccer) or American football?
Truthfully - no, neither one. I only really love baseball.

All Englishmen like football Aidan.

The cross is well and truly on the ball park. The Pope or Christ could not interfere with a cup final.

Maybe, one day, you may permit me to take you?

Honestly - that would be a wasted ticket. I'm hopeless at any sporting event except a baseball game.

Will you have a good night?
