I respect your reply re confidentiality Aidan. Geometry and Algebra, I sudder at those names, my worst subjects at school! No Aidan I'm not one of those parent that think their child is perfect but children do surprise you. Against my wishes my son left college halfway through his course at 15 and went fishing. Today, he is a very successful business man, achieved without an education, and surpassed his 'educated' father by a mile. Laughing

To obtain a good eduction in the US, is that a costly affair? I asked, because I read in the paper to obtain a Doctor's degree down here cost in cxcess of $250.000!

You must be really proud of him (your son).

It depends on where you want to go. There are alot of really good state schools. I went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ( a state school) for graduate school (at the same time that Michael Jordan was playing for them as a matter of fact- he's two or three years younger than me). Anyway- at the time that I went, tuition was $367.00 a semester. And the medical and law schools were the same price. But then you could travel down the road eight miles to Duke and pay about 100 times that- just for the name- recognition factor. I don't think most people in North Carolina really believe that you get that much better of an education at Duke than at UNC Chapel Hill.

But yeah- I wouldn't want to be a student today... in alot of different ways, I'm glad I completed my education when and where I did.

Does your son have children? Are you a grandpa?

?

Get good grades. I got a complete scholarship for graduate school. They paid my tuition, books, everything and gave me a stipend (assistantship) of $500.00 dollars a month for working ten hours a week making copies for professors (research for publications). I got it on the basis of "scholastic merit". What it meant for me was that I was essentially paid to go to graduate school.

What's your favorite subject in school?

Mikhail Gorbachev, history has not given him the credit he deserves, but he will surely get it one day.

Who would you regard as today's leading Statesman?

none....in my opinion they aren't 'leaders' in any real way so i won't say any of them is 'leading'...even if they may be 'dominating' some others....

Were you ever interested in getting involved in politics?

The England versus Australia rugby re-run sounds ideal to me.

Do you think we gave Australia a thrashing second to none?

I don't call 12-10 a thrashing, just an unfortunate upset. Crying or Very sad

Would you like to talk about cricket now?

A sleeveless shirt fit only to be worn by bronzed Aussie blokes!

You obviously haven't heard the Aussie Champions beat India in a 1 day Cricket game a couple of days ago on the sub Continent?

Another vacuous assertion I'm afraid. I watched almost the whole of it. I would have watched all of it had it not been for it starting in the middle of the night. I was a bit taken aback about the number of officers standing just outside the boundary rope.

What were they doing bearing in mind how well paid they are?
