No, I can't! I'm still the same person, with the first avatar,
the old ladies, and now. You were utterly upset though.

Why can't you see beyond the avatar?

Very often, yes. So are many women.

Do you like the Venus of Willendorf?

I don't know what "like" means in this respect.I quite like some modern versions.

Have you seen it?

No! I think by today's standard we would'nt call her "Venus"
any longer.

Should I use a photo of her as my avatar?

No.I already have enough in the Goddess section of my library.Plenty others too.I do however still see it as an image of the Venus.I told you last night about the way I look at things. That was a nice sentence you wrote about it being unfortunate that people seek to own specimens of the Lady's Slipper Orchid.I agree.Flaubert had a lady's slipper in the bottom drawer of his desk in Croisset. That was an inanimate object so I suppose it's OK.

Have you had a nice day so far?

Well, it is still morning here (10:00 am) and my desk
is full of paperwork. Your workday must be over by now
right? Flaubert was a true Frenchman, I guess. When he wrote Madame Bovary, it was assumed that his fictional
character Emma was one of the society ladies he was
friends with.

It seems we've been dominating this thread for the last
10 pages. Where are the other members? Francis is
probably afraid, I could ask him a twisted question Wink
or they're intimidated by you.

What's your take on this?

Maybe they are simply being polite.I very much doubt intimidation.Maybe they are giving us room so they can pick up a few tips on how to sweet talk a lady or how to react to being sweet talked.

Flaubert said "Madame Bovary is me".

Do you know why I liked that sentence you wrote about the veteran' s meeting near your house.

Do you suppose it can get any better than this?

Well-the scansion sung in such a way that I got the impression I had it just like it sounded in your head when the thought formed. That's a test I run on things I read. Some writers can't do it ever. Some a bit and some a lot.The last are best of course.Maybe I imagined it.The phrase with music was the one about music.Words do have music. It isn't any good thinking too long about which word or what order.Unless you're James Joyce who was into something else.If you have to think much the thought isn't formed properly. You made that little scene real.It was nice.

I just read another in Mailer. He's good at it."Foreign editors couldn't even read typed English without lighting a cigarette."I have a notepad in the pub and I jot things down that are said, sometimes by me,when they come out dead right."He's writing a book " they explain to those who gawp. The Lady's Slipper Orchid thing was full of that.As soon as it got mentioned I realised it's potential.

It was perfect don't you think?

I'm swamped with work right now.....

What can't get any better than that?

Right! Otherwise my child has to go to public schools.
Well the stock market is up today and I'm having catered
lunch as we speak.

glitterbag asked the question if it can't get better than
that and I asked what she meant.

You must have tons of friends at the pub by now, right?
