Nice to see you Aidan But I'm off out to do some work right now
catch you later, if we are still friends?

Is that your question?

Were we ever (really friends)? If we were, then it's entirely up to you as whether we still are or not. I don't abandon my friends.

Is there anything someone you once knew to be a true friend to you could do to cause you to abandon that friendship?

I'd love to meet any of you but can't PM yet! When I can, I'll get in touch with some of the regulars. Would be great to know more about some of you.

Aidan---------The real friends I have in general are spread out all across the globe, sometimes things happen I might not agree with.
Circumstances and or events change people, quite dramatically at times. Consequently I am aware of changes in people which are not really part of their normal psyche. I'd walk into hell for a friend and never turn my back on him.

Do you realise what harm can be done to people by circumstances and events and are you aware of how they can change?

Whiteviolet welcome to A2k, I hope you enjoy your time amongst these pages.

Okay.

Yes.

Have you ever had a defining event in your life that you recognized as having changed you in some pivotal way?

Yes, more than one.

Are you trying to read my psyche?

Well sure- psyche reading is such an interesting pasttime-(still paranoid about that, huh?)
But don't worry, because the truth is, psyche reading over the internet is impossible. You and I both know that one can only get exactly the picture someone else chooses to reveal-accurate or not.

(I know what you mean about your friends being all over the world. That's why one of the pivotal events in my life was moving to this country and especially working here in the job I'm in. Now I have friends from all over the world and from many different walks of life. Talk about broadening horizons...)

What do you remember as being your favorite childhood memory?

My favourite childhood memories relate to living in a beautiful village on the edge of Dartmoor. Village concerts, playing witch games and the Coronation tea.

Whiteviolet, you have to ask a question on this one love.. If Clary finds you making mistakes, she will have you in her study!

You wouldn't want that to happen, would you?

Whiteviolet- I was just in a village on the edge of Dartmoor last Sunday. We went walking on the moors and then spent an hour or two in the Tavistock- a pub, though I can't remember the name of the village it was in. It was near the southeast corner of Dartmoor. I'll look at a map to figure it out. We did pass the sign for Totnes and I thought of Clary. Laughing
Beautiful area down there.

Do you live in the same area now that you did when you were growing up?

Yes. I see the house where I was born nearly every day of the week.

Do you think interest rates are too low?

Sorry for my error - question, am I forgiven?

Yes, interest rates are too low for savers.

No, I no longer live in that beautiful village but am friendly with the people who now live in the very old house I was brought up in. I am living in Lincoln for two more years then intending to move back down south, Hampshire probably or maybe Exeter.

Is nostalgia a good thing?

Nostalgia describes a longing for the past which I encompass dearly. I often travel around the Australian bush, and whilst sitting around the campfire at night, I sometimes melancholically think back of the places where I grew up , 20.000km away.

You think we will ever see peace in our time?

Doesn't look like it- at least not in my time. From what I read, the world will soon be warring over water. If it's not one thing- it's another.
Sad innit?
(I've picked up that term "innit" from my students. I also now say "dinnit". Of all the English pronunciations to pick up, those are the two that seem to be sticking- sad innit? Laughing ) I don't know why, but I find it fun to say that.

Do you think that in the absence of spirituality, or anything outside of themselves to believe in, people substitute their perception of "ideals" (even if mistakenly calling it religion of one sort or another) and getting behind a side on one conflict or another is the only way they can feel "righteous" ( or try to show others that they are) and as if they stand for or believe in something?

and as an adjunct question:

Would you find it hard to believe in nothing but yourself and your fellow humans?

Not in the least, after myself and some very close people, I take much of what I hear with a pinch of salt.

Don't you think you should be setting a better example to your pupils, instead of approving their gibberish talk you should reprimand them and take pride in the English language, are all Americans subject to taking this attitude?

I don't look in mirrors. The sight of the effects of the ravages which women have wrought upon my once handsome appearence is more than I can bear.

Do you still admire yourself in mirrors?
