I'm looking for synonyms for the words turn-off, since turn off sounds like slang to me.
Context:
Me: My biggest turn-off on a date is when women start to complain about problems.
or
Me: I know my relationship with someone isnt' going to workout as soon as they start to complain. Complaining is such a turn-off to me.
Well, turn-off is a pretty widely accepted term. You could just rephrase if you want, i.e. "It really bothers me when women start to complain about problems on a date." Or, "What I hate most about going on a date is when women start to complain."
The main reason that I lose interest in a woman, is when she complains about her problems.
or, with irony:
"Now, listening to you complaining all the time really turns me on"
