Where is A2K going (and why are we in this handbasket)?

Actually, ravensrealm, his first forum was successful, too. The MSN format just didn't give him the headroom to do the kind of development he wanted to learn to do.

3 successful Forums, then GO Robert, that's quite an achievement.

I think he was 17 when we met him on Abuzz.

Err.. Never had the honor but from reading his posts, I think the guy was far from stupid.

Maybe he just grew tired of hearding cats.

He always posts smart and/or funny pieces. On Abuzz he was one of my very favorite posters.

Every once in a great while he posts here, and I try to read them all.

"Young and stupid" is an idiom of sorts. I don't know how widespread it is.

It doesn't mean the person is literally stupid, but rather that when they were younger they lacked the wisdom that their older and more experienced self now possesses.

A lot of times people use the phrase to refer to their past selves when looking back on the crazy things that they did in their youth.

Robert is as smart or smarter than most on this site. I think he just got bored with posting here.

A little bit of an understatement edgar. The guy is a freakin' genius.

Back in the day he'd jump in a thread and cut the alpha-males to pieces; didn't matter what side of the aisle they were on.

I'll never forget the one time he gave me a compliment on one of my posts.

Didn't he stop after that spat he got into with msolga? He might be smart( and I gather that he is) , but he also has a talent for pissing people off. He said a year or so before that that he was the last person at HQ who should be trying to talk to membership, because of his lack of patience.

Anyway, it was only a couple of years ago that he said that A2K was still one of the few places where he could go to get different ideas and an intelligent discussion....I think he also said that this one one of the reasons he was not in a hurry to kill it.

He's not in a hurry to kill it because it's either paying off or will in the future.
I don't see Robert as a philanthropist

He was very clear that A2K was not an act of philanthropy. But seeing as it cant be self sustaining someone is doing it. Maybe Robert changed his mind. My current theory is that some other people or person is paying big, many hundreds a month, and leaving Robert just a small nut that he is willing to live with for now.
