Now maybe the photos you may have seen of Ancient Greek Olympics are more of an artful thing?

You at school doing brainy work?
Hey figure this one out: You're at school. I'm at home and surfing the web at 3.24 am cuz I can't sleep.
Where am I?

In regards to your greeky question: I don't have a clue too. But I'd guess naked athlets are just a matter of art (just like David by Da Vinci).

For the same reason swimmers shave their legs.

Nudity was also considered a cultured thing. Nude parties were were common and very refined.

Lastly, athletes were not as strong or large genetically as we are, so they threw up a lot after events.

It's just more comfortable that way. And they couldn't get a sponsor.

Not so, Nick. They were all sponsored by the Nudist club.

Maybe they were selling cologne: "It's the only thing Greek Olympians wear".

Quote:
Athletes usually competed nude. They originally wore shorts but, according to one ancient writer, Pausanias, a competitor deliberately lost his shorts so that he could run more freely during the race in 720 BC, and clothing was then abolished.

Women were forbidden from attending the Games (they had their own version). One mother attended and was discovered, so everyone had to be in the buff.
