I can not realize the following sentence. Please help me.
"The pole was the furthest there was."
1) What is the subject/object of "there was"?
2) What does this sentence mean? Does it "The pole was the furthest from there"?
3) Would you like to give more examples of such kind of sentences?
@Nousher Ahmed,
We need more context. What is the preceding sentence? Then the intended meaning will be revealed.
I wanted to go as far south as possible, and the pole was the furthest (place) there was. One more step, and I'd be heading back north, where my creditors were waiting.
Means the same as:
"The pole was the furthest away of all the poles.
pole / was/ furthest away
