Even this one?

Quote:
YAKEL, Vanuatu — Standing under his sacred banyan tree, Albi Nagia sings as he cracks open a coconut with a few deft strikes from his bush machete. He chews the meat inside and spits it out in a shower, to the delight of the gathering chickens.

He is praying to Prince Philip. Yes, that Prince Philip: the Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Elizabeth II's husband, who celebrates his 94th birthday on Wednesday.

In England, the former naval officer is known as a sports enthusiast who's a bit cantankerous at times and prone to saying the wrong thing. To several hundred people living in a handful of remote villages on Tanna island in the tropical Pacific archipelago of Vanuatu, he's much more.

"Here in Tanna, we believe that Prince Philip is the son of our God, our ancestral God who lives up in the mountain," says Nako Nikien, who prefers to go by the name Jimmy Joseph.

@TheCobbler,
Richard Dawkins is a dick, he may also be an atheist, but first and foremost he's a complete dick.

I bow down to the altar of science and worship observation and evidence with all of my heart, soul, mind and strength.

The Cobbler will not be nailed down to any belief. He will embrace and abandon everything in a single day.

@TheCobbler,
Go ahead, Dawkins is a dick, a preachy dick. Lots of atheists also think he's a dick. That's because he's a dick.

@TheCobbler,
That's very clichéd and meaningless. Do I have to be French to recognise another Frenchman, or have lost a leg to recognise another unidexter?

That's interesting.
What level of epistemological certainty or statistical correlation have you set to distinguish science from speculation?
What's your sigma?
.999?
.9?
.75?
You know you'll never get 1.0 . ...

@neologist,
Evidence...

Eye witness, observation, repeatable results...

That is a good place to begin a survey of "truth"...

The culmination of scientific rigors resulting in consensus and quorum.

Ppl under estimate the importance oc fable in our world.
A metaphysical fable is part of the human needs...

@Fil Albuquerque,
I think of fable meaning "heart".

Someone tells a story from the heart.

...often the heart is misleading.

A lot of fervor and emotion linked to a seemingly true life event.

Like... I once saw a ghost!

Really? Or is there so much hype and infatuation to convince?

I once saw the truth and the lie became superfluous.

The truth became based upon emotion, heart... something one dares not dispute...

@TheCobbler,
You do understand the relevance of standard deviation, right?

On the other hand, faith is based on repeated personal experience. Sigma does not compute.

Or repeated personal assumption based on the delusion that something was trigger by having faith.
