How is everyone doing? I am finding it easier than GFQ 108. Struggling with questions 25, 38 and 49. I can help with any others>
@sophocles,
As you are only need 3 with 2 weeks to go I would plug away a bit more at them. I'm down to 9 if it's any consolation!
@sophocles,
On question 38 listen to the query line it makes it more precise. I'm struggling on four, but agree that there is plenty of time so far.
@sophocles,
I'll happily swap a clue for 49 for a clue for 47... no good at the ponies as my Betfair account will testify.
Edit: and 38 has me baffled, is he after integers?
@Green Fade,
My tote account is looking as bad after Cheltenham but a clue for 47 - you may want to look at the BOILERMAN.
Help on 49 appreciated!
Call me bias but, on balance, I think Ramires7 was just a bit unfairly criticised too!
I always just give clues or hints & only expect the same in return. I am sorry if my clues for number 50 of the previous quiz became more explicit than perhaps they should have been {to some anyway} but a certain amount of googling etc. was still required. I was just trying to help a newcomer. Conversely, in last month’s forum at one stage someone asked whether ‘by chance {I} set the clues for the Times crossword?’ - can’t win!? I have been dismayed to see actual answers given out in previous ‘Able2know’ forums, but no subsequent criticisms given?
It does make me wonder as to the actual identity of one or two who contribute to this GFQ forum? However, time to move on.............
Latest quiz enjoyable, 5/6 to get. For some reason, number 15 is giving me trouble. Usual bartering terms and will think carefully how to present clues!
@susan99,
Quid pro quo Clarice
Take a look at the course. Part of it has been bent and shaped and has featured before. The player - NOOST
@Ramires7,
I think the thing to bear in mind is that Bill has mentioned the Q50 issue in his latest newsletter.Therefore we must assume he looks on this site from time to time.Hopefully no one who uses this forum alerted him as none of us would then benefit from hints/nudges in the future.Now on to 109 I too am having trouble with 15 and 38.
re #38, a mathematician friend tells me this is impossible; I'd tried looking for decimal point numbers, but that has been ruled out by the setter. I think I must be misunderstanding what he is asking for.
@Green Fade,
If that was a little oblique, I'll be happy to be less so, just ask.
@Opsimath,
Swap you clue for 15 for clue for 25?0
@Opsimath,
Clue for Question 15. Railmen
Could you reciprocate with a clue for Question 25.
@gardengnome,
Not impossible - 10 mins with Excel did the trick.
@gumpy01,
Right....I never was any use with Excel. But thanks, I'll give it a try. Ten minutes (if only!) would be a joy after the 90 I spent on #49 - and all because I couldn't read my own writing when I was making lists of foreign footballers!
@sophocles,
Abba may be a good starting point.
@Opsimath,
No idea from this clue! but think I am close to an answer with a name of an eighties pop song. Can the letters be repeated and do all the letters have to be used to spell it?
@sophocles,
You'll have to just battle on.
@Opsimath,
I'm struggling with the two anagrams. Have some sort of answer for all the rest.Thanks to some of the clues on here
@djmple,
