There is no difference.
They both circle uranus looking for Klingons.
So... who would win in a fair fight? Kirk or Picard?

In a fair fight, Kirk'd get his shirt ripped, but that's about all.
But Picard doesn't fight fair. He would introduce his ship's councillor, and while Kirk was staring at the cleavage, Worf would stomp him.
If I get involved in this Trek discussion, I'll get nothing done today.

Well, for starters, Kirk and Picard were clear allies in the movie Star Trek: Generations. I doubt they would ever be fighting against one another, so the question is moot.
Unless of course, they were under the influence of an alien force, as in the original Trek series episode "Plato's Stepchildren".
Hmmmmmmmmm - what if they got drunk?
Which, I believe, had the first interracial kiss on television, Kirk and Uhuru.

Well, by the time Trek, TNG came along, synthahol had been invented.
Sigh - what if they got drunk on SYNTHANOL then?
Synthahol only mimics the effects of alcohol, and is easily shaken off when duty calls.

Okay fine. In a hypothetical situation, I would go with Picard. I think he's smarter than Kirk.
Kirk would start the fight. Picard would end it.
