Anoxia- I would LOVE to vote Libertarian, but IMO, it would be a wasted vote. Things are too serious in the US now, re security, to throw away a vote.

Well, phoenix, I voted for Bush, but I'm so unhappy with his Patriot Act and homeland security measures, I can't bring myself to vote for him again. I'm not expecting the Libertarian candidate to win, by any means, but I'm hoping that the future republican candidates will realize that they need to change their ways before they get all the conservative votes.

Its more of a statement Smile

We need two constitutional ammendments:

1. Runoff elections for all elected offices. Nobody should ever hold any office with less than 50% of the vote, and nobody should ever fear to vote his first choice, at least on a first ballot.

2. "None of the Above" should be a choice in every election, for every office. And, if "None of the Above" ever wins, then the other candidates for that office on the ballot should be barred for life from running for any public office, and the parties which sponsored them barred for running candidates for that particular office for the next twenty years.

Do all of that, and it might become possible to elect a libertarian for president. But, until that glorious day comes to pass, i.e. until the day when the choice on the ballot is libertarian vs republican, and the democrats are all in prison or in cages at the national zoo with the bars welded shut, I recommend voting against democrats. Whoever's in second place for being the greater evil is WAY back there in second place...

Now cmon guys what could be even more wrong about a left and socialist President than about that warhappy bloodloving guy who's in charge now?
Just hope that Kerry is gonna give you back some social welfare stuff, like medical treatment for everyone. Just imagine what it would be like to get real sick without having to be afraid of losing all your money and having to set your kids on the street or something.
Sure Kerry may be some psycho enjoyin to kill others - but...just have a look at your present President.

Can it get any worse from this point?

Or, to refine that, in a way that there were ever socialist presidents.

Can I just cast a vote for myself??? Shocked

hehe
Honestly, I would vote for ALMOST anyone who would take Bush out of office. For some strange reason , everytime a republican gets in office that has a hair up his butt like Bush we end up in near recession. I hate that trend. I am a loud mouthed liberal Shocked Embarrassed Shocked who would vote for Hillary Clinton in a heart beat. hahahahaha

I heard a guy making the talk show rounds say that "undecided" votes go against the incumbent. It's like asking a man if he plans to be married in six months. If he says he's undecided, that looks bleak for the marriage.

I'd vote for a pile of mud rather than Bush. At least a pile of mud won't start an unnecessary war. Nor will a pile of mud try to foist its religious fanaticism upon the country.

I am writing in for myself...or voting for Kerry. I would make a better president but I think Kerry has slightly higher name brand recognition in the market.

Kerry is not a Socialist.

I know this because I would vote for a Socialist candidate. I am not voting for Kerry.

We Liberals don't see Kerry as one of ours.

Can someone explain why 75% of the people polled here say they are Conservative, yet 75% say they are voting for Kerry?

Maybe the same folks are not participating in both polls, etc.

Kerry is not particularly liberal. (I can say that because I am liberal and he is a good deal to the right of me.)

There are a considerable number of people who identify themselves as conservative who are voting for Kerry.

A vote for Bush is an unAmerican vote. A vote for anyone but Kerry (sad as that may be) is a vote for Bush. Do not vote for the pro terrorist Bush (they want him in there because he furthers their cause) Exclamation

Bear up a pole.
You hit the nail on the head... people seem to vote for how they percive themselves, in contrast to the leader of their party, and little of the politics of the party.
