@Baldimo,
It was supposed to be a civic lesson, not a lesson on nuclear weapons. He turned the civic lesson into a partisan rant with republican talking points. He should have merely explained how the system works without getting into politics. If he was asked to come talk about Islam and Muslim extremist and nuclear weapons, that is one thing, but he was not. I can't imagine a reasonable 2nd grade teacher thinking it would be a suitable lesson for 2nd graders. Nor do I think teachers would teach kids to hate cops as a lesson.

@revelette2,
it impressed me. It really impressed me how deep his argument was when he could have given a shrill response to a shrill slur.

@Baldimo,
Quote:
Iraq Body Count (IBC) recorded 4,153 civilian deaths from violence in 2011. Evidence of these deaths was extracted from some 6,828 distinct reports collected from over 90 sources covering 1,907 incidents, each of which is openly listed on the IBC website. This brings the total number of deaths in the IBC database so far to 119,891. These numbers represent a verifiable documentary record of deaths, and are not estimates

@izzythepush,
What does this have to do with a lady in who won't issue marriage licenses? She killed these people in the name of her religion?

@Baldimo,
What makes you think thats not far from their minds and hearts? The same passages they quote also go on to recommend stoning homosexuals to death. Have you ever seen a stoning to death? I have.

@snood,
I live in Texas. I hear that stuff EVERY day. For a sample of "mainstream: here in central Texas listen to this San Antonio preacher that is soo far from the pale, Sen McCane had to "renounce" his endorsement of McCanes Presidential candidacy.

@bobsal u1553115,
Just because that is what you want to do to people you disagree with doesn't mean everyone else does as well. Believe in transference much?

@bobsal u1553115,
Yeah, but ... You're drawing a direct equivalence between Osama bin Laden - coldly calculating murderer of thousands and major (dead, thankfully) figure in radical Muslim culture, and some daffy biddy whose trying to get her share of the Honey Boo Boo reality show dollars. I understand both are driven by sick religious ideology, but you really risk losing credibility and sounding crazy yourself if you can't back off of your insistence that "they're the same thing".

@Baldimo,
Did you listen to that preacher fomenting breaking the civil law just like a muslem preacher. What is the difference between them? None. Our forefathers showed great forethought in keeping idiot preachers from making national laws. I wish our politicians of today showed as much intelligence. When my religious people start telling me what to believe, which laws to obey, and for whom to vote I will quit my church. Too bad more people dont feel that way.

@RABEL222,
Wow. You really twisted the meanings what what they were saying around didn't you? No where in that speech did Hagee say that we should kill people. No where did he say throw gays off of buildings with their hands tied behind their backs. No where did he say that gays should have their heads cut off and put on a stake. The very fact you think he said those things shows more about you then it does about him. Both you and Bob are crazy if you can come even close to saying those guys are just like the Taliban or ISIS.

You anti-religion people are sometimes worse than the religions people. I said it to Bob and I'll say it to you. Believe in transference much?

@Baldimo,
Everyone who voted for Bush and did not campaign against the war is responsible for the deaths in Iraq.

@snood,
I agree he is stretching it. She is not a religious right militant (there are some)as far as I am aware. The cartoon should have made some kind of picture showing on the many points the religious Christian right and the religious Muslims have in common. (non militant in both) Or he or she could have Christian militants and Muslim militants showing how their views are similar as well. It is the intolerant views bobsol is talking about, not necessarily their actions.

No problem. Use the extremist of your own choice.

Someone once said that that the problem isn't the natural Caesars among us, its all the wannabe Caesars. Like that county clerk in Kentucky.
