@coldjoint,
Loving the current state of the economy does not translate into loving or even barely liking the president. There are many other factors which enter into the liking or disliking of a president. In those polls where other items are brought in, he fares far lower.

He didn't continue what Obama was doing, isn't that the whole point behind the hand wringing and pearl clutching that has been going on for the last 2 years? The left has sworn up and down that what Trump was planning to do was going to trash the economy and it hasn't come true. New trade deals have been signed, taxes have been cut and people's income has increased. The economy is stronger now than it was 2 years ago and it continues to grow.

In the hours following the election the MSM screamed about the stock market (Dow), it was down 600 points over night before the market opened, and when it opened, it shot forward and closed at an all time high 18,589.69, +256.95. Trump has done far better for the economy than Hillary ever would have, she was backed by the banks and big business, especially big tech.

@Baldimo,
There is more to the economy than a high stock market.

Trump cut every EPA rule Obama put in place. That made it easier for companies to not invest in safety or pollution protocols. If you think that was a wise move, only time will tell.

Trump's deregulation of Dodd-Frank still allows big banks to continue predatory practices aimed at scamming customers through increased fees instead of getting rid of loopholes, allowing them to dupe the consumer and place more money into the coffers of the bank's highest management.

Trump's middle class tax cuts are a joke. Don't even get me started on that...

All the while, you encourage stagnate wages, closing of factories because they can't compete globally and tariffs that hurt our own industries like farming/agriculture and manufacturing.

This isn't success. It's a ticking time bomb.

Exactly. It is not necessary to like him, but you can still like what he is doing. And might want 4 more years of it.

@coldjoint,
Or on the other hand you can feel the way most of the country does, that he lies and is not trustworth, and they hate what he's doing to the country too and don't want him doing it. Which is why the majority of the country say they definitely wil not vote for trump in 2020.

Wisconsin judge blocks Republicans’ lame-duck power grab
By Fred Barbash March 21 at 7:46 PM

A Wisconsin judge on Thursday blocked several lightning-fast actions in December by the state’s Republican-controlled legislature to limit the power of its incoming governor, Democrat Tony Evers, and preserve policies implemented by his predecessor, Scott Walker.

The GOP has tried similar power-stripping efforts after losing statewide elections in North Carolina and Michigan. Out going Michigan governor Rick Snyder vetoed some but not all of the bills passed in December. And in 2016, North Carolina’s outgoing Republican governor, Pat McCrory, defeated by Democrat Roy Cooper, signed a number of lame-duck measures, some of which have been successfully challenged in court.

In Wisconsin, the legislature acted in what is known as an “extraordinary session,” called with little notice. It lasted two days and one night and sparked heated protests.

The measures sought to protect, among other things, Republican agenda items such as work requirements for Medicaid and food-stamp recipients, opposition to the Affordable Care Act and limits on early absentee voting in elections. A federal judge blocked the voting measure earlier.

The three bills enacted during the sessions were extraordinary in breadth.

One of them gave the legislature powers usually and exclusively reserved for the attorney general, such as approving legal actions by the state and signing off on lawsuit settlements. Another was aimed at reducing the need for highway construction projects to comply with federal laws governing prevailing wages and minority set-asides. Severe restrictions were imposed limiting the availability of Medicaid.

Republicans pushed through 82 of Walker’s appointments to various state boards and commissions.

At the time of the session, state Assembly Speaker Robin Vos stated its purpose plainly: “We are going to have a very liberal governor who is going to enact policies that are in direct contrast to what many of us believe in,” he said.

Dane County Judge Richard G. Niess invalidated the actions, including the appointments. He ruled that the extraordinary session violated the state’s constitution, which allows special sessions only when convened by the governor. Although Walker signed the bills, he did not call the session.

The lawsuit, one of several, was brought by the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, Disability Rights of Wisconsin, Black Leaders Organizing for Communities and other groups.

In a statement posted Thursday to Twitter, Evers said: “The Legislature overplayed its hand by using an unlawful process to accumulate more power for itself and override the will of the people, despite the outcome of last November’s election.”

Vos and state Senate Republican leader Scott Fitzgerald promised in a statement emailed to The Washington Post that they would appeal the ruling. They claim the decision threatens all laws ever enacted in extraordinary sessions, including “stronger laws against child sexual predators and drunk drivers.”

Nothing in the decision or the lawsuit purports to go beyond the events of December, Jeffrey Mandell, who represents the plaintiffs in the case, told The Post.

Republicans lost all statewide contests in the midterm elections but retained majorities in both houses of Wisconsin’s legislature.

One of the GOP laws enacted in Wisconsin prevented the state from dropping out of a Texas-sponsored lawsuit challenging the Affordable Care Act. Immediately after Niess’s ruling, Attorney General Josh Kaul moved to withdraw the state’s involvement in the suit.

@neptuneblue,
This is great news...but it's being appealed and if it goes to the state supreme court it could get reversed.

@hightor,
I don't think so. It seems very open and shut:

@neptuneblue,
Assuming that the conservative majority on the court (4-3) are serious jurists and not political hacks it looks promising. But that might be an erroneous assumption!

@hightor,
Let's see the Supreme Court allow laws to be make without representation...

That is what the republicans did was closed the doors and pass a lot of laws and appointed a lot of people as if they were the only ones that had a say.

The Wisconsin voters sure showed them...

The blue wave continues to grow and swell each time Trump opens his lying mouth.
