@hawkeye10,
I think I'll take that as a compliment...

I wonder what kind of person you really are when you feel the need to attack gay man for sticking up for women's rights.

As a gay man you are not SPECIAL!, Nor are WOMEN!

You leftist motherfuckers love to rap about equality, but over and over again you prove incapable of practicing it.

@snood,
Why would you value one's inheritance in modern day dollars? He received between 40 and 200 million. He turned that into over 2-7 billion, depending on who you talk to. You are giving the impression as Izzy pointed out that he got 8 billion and now only has 2 billion. That is totally dishonest.

@Baldimo,
Let's say I inherited a piece of property in 1980 that was worth $200 million. That same property would now be worth over $2 billion along with all the income from it over the last 35 years. Gosh, and I didn't have to do one damn thing to turn that $200 million into $2 billion.

@parados,
That's not how it works and you know it. It's a way to take a cheap shot at someone who has been successful. If your "math" was correct, then his other 4 siblings would have the same net worth, as they split what their father had made.

@Baldimo,
Donald's business life is filled with instances where he had advantages because of the wealth of his father. His father loaned him money to get started. He borrowed from his sibling's trust funds.

@parados,
It's funny that you scoff at a 300% increase in his wealth. You and those on the left are the only ones who seem to think that is something to be ashamed of. I'd say 1 billion 27 years ago to 4 billion today is still a pretty good turn on his fathers "investment". Do you think you could have done better?

Estimations of his inheritance and relative success since vary, but I will stipulate that he has made a lot of money. Estimations of the significance of Donald Trump having made a lot of money also vary.

@Baldimo,
A 300% increase in wealth over 26 years since 1988? That works out to a 4.5% return. Of course I scoff at that. I could have almost doubled that by simply investing in US treasuries in 1988 which were returning 8.67% on the 10 year.

If it was invested in the S & P 500 in 1988 it would have returned 1433% over that time period with dividends (updated to correct for return and not value)
http://www.moneychimp.com/features/market_cagr.htm

You have to make some pretty boneheaded investments to have only 300% return over 27 years.

Not only could I have done better. I could have spent $50,000,000 a year to live on and still done better.

@parados,
You never would have done that. It's easy to sit back and talk a big game when you actually don't have to make the decisions. You are speaking like someone who is a Monday morning quater back. You would have been a pure chicken with the money instead of doing something with yourself. At least Trump took chances. Not everyone was successful, but that is part of what building something for yourself is about. I'd bet on The Donald over you any day.

If you are so sure about the success of the stock market and it's ability to make one money over the long term, how come you are against letting people do that with the money they pay into SS? If you would do so well, why not let others?

@Baldimo,
You don't know a thing about me. The only thing pure chicken is the **** you are throwing out. I started with nothing at the same time Trump started with several million dollars. I have a hell of a lot better return over that time frame than Trump did.

I actively manage my own money in the market. I can live with a 33% downturn and not panic. Most people can't. The problem with letting people invest their own money is that average return is just that average. The median return for investors will be less than the average. You will have some big winners and a lot more big losers on the ends of the scale. What do you propose we do for the people that end up losing all or most of their retirement through bad investments brought about through bad advice or outright swindle? You will be putting a lot of people at the mercy of the Bernie Madoffs of the world. There will be a fair number that will end up with nothing when it comes time to retire. I prefer to see SS as the insurance for those that got screwed in life and walking around money for those that did well.

@parados,
Since you never seem to talk about yourself how would I know what you say is true? You are like Izzy when to comes to these things. Mock everyone else and what they have done but share nothing about yourself.

If you are so hot, where are your millions and are you paying your fair share?

@Baldimo,
I am happy to pay my share because I hope it will give others the opportunity I have have had. I also recognize that without the help of others I wouldn't have been so fortunate.

I don't think I am mocking Trump by pointing out a 300% return over 26 years is pretty shitty return when several basic investments would have had a much better return.
