@MontereyJack,
What has he done to working people? From what I can tell, most of you are pissed about him taking some power from the teachers unions.

@MontereyJack,
I hardly think teachers are the sole definition of "working man", in fact I'm guessing with all that time off teachers get, the average working person puts in more hours per year than the average teacher. In a state of about 5.7 million people, teachers make up a small portion of the population and their loss of some union power is a good thing for the state. Seeing as how WI is ranked 6th in unemployment, I would say they are actually doing pretty good. Your love of the union is blinding you to what real people actually want. How many people left the unions in WI when they were no longer mandatory?

@Baldimo,
Most people believe they are under-paid for the work they do. Some go on strike, and others grin and bare it. The key to earning more is going into a career that pays well. Most require higher education and/or training. Teacher knew what the pay scale was before they went to college. Many college professors make a decent living. Also, location makes a huge difference on pay scales.

@cicerone imposter,
Trump supporters are losing it! Trump has enraged our European partners with a trade war with his tariff.

My son's mother in law makes over six figures teaching high school in IL. My son has seen her taxes, he does them. And it is not like it is a secret. She is not shy.

The Rise of the Six-Figure Teacher
By FORD FESSENDEN and JOSH BARBANELMAY 15, 2005

TEACHING has always been known as a noble calling, but as affluent parents and administrators strive to give their children every possible advantage, it has also become a better-paid profession than in the past, with thousands of public school teachers in the New York suburbs now earning more than $100,000 a year.

In Illinois (I live here) there is a website where you can see every single public school teachers salary.

Six figures isn't unheard of for a teacher of 30+ years, but it's no where near the mean or median pay for a teacher.

My best friend is a teacher for 5 years now (5th grade) and has tenure. He makes $49,500 (in one of the richest neighborhoods in Chicagoland) and spends a lot of his own money on classroom supplies.

@maporsche,
I believe that's also true in California. I know for sure that many cities in California must provide subsidized housing to teachers. http://www.newschannel10.com/story/37871150/average-pay-for-teachers-by-state

@hingehead,
The graph is misleading to the extent that China's economy has destroyed their environment. The effect of the pollution is shorter life spans and more health problems. https://www.cnbc.com/2016/02/11/pollution-crisis-is-choking-the-chinese-economy.html

Beijing isn't alone, though. It's one of nearly 300 cities in China that badly failed air-quality standard measurements in 2015, according to data collected by Greenpeace. And the effects are devastating: More than 1.6 million people per year die in China from breathing toxic air. To fight back, China's leaders have been waging a tough war on pollution by rolling out new technologies, capping coal use and using more renewable energy, such as solar and wind.

@cicerone imposter,
But China is cutting down it's import of foreign waste and has an aggressive renewable energy strategy - the current US administration is headed in the other direction.

My point is the foreign debt situation is massively different - and China has a shitload of reserves whereas the US is in massive debt. Negative impacts of a trade war are going to hit the US first.

It is not unheard of, it is fact. Teachers are also paid by the degrees they have attained. Maybe your friend just has a Bachelors Degree.

@TheCobbler,
Not many people when the numbers are that large. Also it is the first time. Get back to us in April. The pendulum is swinging back to the right.

If you do not watch Hannity do you think you should be telling anyone what he says?

Conservatives can laugh at themselves, progressives not so much. But watching cartoons and reading comic strips is probably the best way ever to get your news since the the UK government censors it anyway.
