@TheCobbler,
I'm all for doing renewables as much as we possibly can.

Where I differ from the left is in regards to what we do if renewables can't provide 100% of everything we need. It would of course be great if renewables could do it all. But in the real world that might not be possible.

The left would have us suffer through power shortages if we can't supply all of our needs with renewables.

I'd rather supplement whatever shortfalls we have with non-renewable sources.

@TheCobbler,
What dream world do you live in? Renewables can't produce the same level of energy as other sources.

@TheCobbler,
If he is voting against a pathway to citizenship then I'm ok with that. We shouldn't be granting citizenship to people who broke our immigration laws, it will only encourage more illegal immigration and further bending of our laws due to emotional pressure instead of what is lawful.

There is zero logical argument for giving them citizenship, they can stay in the US but they do not need citizenship.

@Baldimo,
Regardless, that and many other things illustrate clearly what a **** hole country the USA is.

Quote:
Trump and his defenders completely ignore the direct and disgraceful role America has played in making life worse in the countries he cited. Among many other things, we’ve backed right-wing death squads in El Salvador, supported cruel dictators in Haiti, and trapped poor countries the world over in debt through International Monetary Fund (IMF) loans with tight strings attached.

I’ll leave it to foreign relations scholars to parse the rest. What I’m concerned about is Trump’s complete lack of concern over the “****-holiness” of the country he leads.

Gandhi taught us that a country’s greatness is measured not by its richest, but by how it treats its most vulnerable members. By this measure, the U.S. is a certified shithole.

The U.S. is the wealthiest country on earth. Yet one in five children here will go to bed hungry tonight. Thirteen million American children live in poverty, the highest rate among the world’s wealthy countries.

One shining light for poor American kids is that almost all of them have health insurance, thanks to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) put in place in 1997. That light is rather dim right now, however, as Congress waffles on funding the program, leaving millions of children’s lives in the balance.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty, Philip Alston, conducted a two-week tour of the U.S. in late 2017. He found some of the most extreme inequality anywhere in the world.

“The United States is one of the world’s richest and most powerful and technologically innovative countries,” Alston wrote in an op-ed for The Guardian, “but neither its wealth nor its power nor its technology is being harnessed to address the situation in which 40 million people continue to live in poverty

Imposing energy blackouts on the US population in order to pretend that our energy needs are being met is a non-starter.

We're going to supply our true needs whether you like it or not.

And if you won't let us fulfill those needs with nuclear or fracked natural gas, then we're going to do it by burning coal.

@Baldimo,
The people of this **** hole country, the one you described as west or east Texas - see it really doesn't matter which, it's still a **** hole, find it in CA too - are the same cowards who pretend they are honest and forthright, people willing to discuss all, but when it comes down to brass tacks, there is nothing but this all pervasive cowardliness.

Described by the Forbes article, which, in typical cowardly fashion, it was ignored.

@oralloy,
No you are not going to do it that way... Your sold-out, dirty, money grubbing party is out with the coming blue wave... and energy will be done the civilized way. Using our natural renewable resources with a world concerted effort will amply supply all of our energy needs. So, dirty energy pigs like you can fade into history with all the other misguided energy hogs.

My sold-out, dirty, money grubbing party is already out. The Republicans are going to hold the White House for the next 19 years.

You seem to have forgotten which party I'm a member of (you might want to take a look at my Gravitar image).

More to the point though, if the left ever succeeds in their dream of imposing power blackouts on the American people, come the very next election they will find themselves out of office for a very long time.

Remember to vote for Republicans. The Democrats hate the Constitution and want to violate our rights for no reason.
