@momoends,
Because we don't vote for the schmucks who took the bribes from the foreign governments. At least until Trump came along.

AP Sources: Manafort tied to undisclosed foreign lobbying WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump's campaign chairman helped a pro-Russian governing party in Ukraine secretly route at least $2.2 million in payments to two prominent Washington lobbying firms in 2012, and did so in a way that effectively obscured the foreign political party's efforts to influence U.S. policy.

Holy crap. First Trump advocates the US pull out of NATO and let Russia take over Eastern Europe, then he hires Putin's bagman to run his campaign. Putin's trying to take over the US government by force of bribery.

@Blickers,
That's because the US government is sleeping. We all know by now that Trump is a traitor to his own country; telling Russia to hack into Hillary's email.

Still wondering why our Black Lives Matter thread has been closed... No explanation in my messages, rather rude if you ask me.

I wonder if money was exchanged for this? The old buckaroo payoff? Is our government (pardon the pun) responsible for a media blackout? Or is it just me? Am I too much of a peon to handle such a worthy thread?

I guess we can surmise here on A2K trolls rule and black voices don't matter, Neither do the people who make this forum active, nor the peole who visited the thread thousands of times. No one matters here on a2k.

Leaves the moderators of this forum suspect of corruption, it is anti free speech and stands as a kick in the face to the people who post here believing we are "able to know", able to protest and able to bring about change through healthy, rational discussion.

Delete the trolls, not the threads that stand for civil rights. REINSTATE BLM THREAD!

People jaywalk in my city all the time right under the noses of traffic crossing guards NOT ONE SINGLE WORD IS SAID TO THEM.

Just those who take bribes from multinationals, bankers, arms manufacturers and fossil fuels.

@TheCobbler,
Why is jaywalking even a crime? It just seems like a convenient excuse to arrest someone.

It's not a crime over here.

@izzythepush,
Jaywalking is against the law and so is driving an inch past a stop sign before you come to a complete stop and stepping into a crosswalk before the light says "walk", but these things are done billions of times a day in urban cities of the world. Littering a cigarette butt on the ground is against the law in my city and punishable by a 200 dollar fine but the streets are littered with them and no one ever gets charged for littering (except maybe if you are Black).

Land of the free... yada yada yada...

@TheCobbler,
I still don't see why it's a crime, especially if the roads are clear. Who is the potential victim, the jay walker or the bloke driving a 44 tonne artic that spreads him over the highway?

@TheCobbler,
The mods don't owe you an explanation, indeed it is policy not to. When a thread overcooks, they will step in and give it a rest, and, I'm guessing, removing the posts that tipped the thread over. They don't do it often, but they do it on occasion. You are being both paranoid about yourself (may have nothing to do with you) and insulting to A2K.

It, like most traffic stops are used by cops to get "probable cause" for other charges. About 70% of drug charges in the US derive from "traffic stops", broken stop light lens, crossing white lines, turns on empty streets without signaling, sticker violations and stuff that older white folks like me get away with every day.

@ossobucotemp,
what does "when a thread overcooks" mean? talk about obscure metaphors, that's one.

They do, but by then they're dead. I disagree with you over transparency, though. There should transparency over killing threads and time outs. It makes the admin seems almost cultish. At least Robert will return messages, usually about how it was out of his hands.

@MontereyJack,
That is my phrasing, from my own observations of 14 years. I've never been a mod, would be a terrible one. I stopped reading the BLM thread myself recently because of preponderance of posters I consider rampant trolls. No, I didn't report that, I just got tired of it. Over time, a few threads have been locked, definitely not many, and if memory serves, they came back. The atheist thread was locked for a while, and, if I remember, it did need cooling off.

So sorry you don't like my choice of wording.

@bobsal u1553115,
I'm hardly against transparency but I do get mods have lives and don't want to engage in a rondelay after making decisions which I gather they have talked over and besides that, I gather it is longtime policy, and that has been explained here off and on.

One reason I never volunteered to be a mod (and they need volunteers) is that I would spend all day wringing my hands worrying about what's right. Now I get there are steps to it, chasing spam being one level and more complicated stuff for other levels.

The problem was it makes trolls able to shut down progressive threads by going over the top. Izzy, Cobbler, CI, Rabel, glitter, you and I got censored because giujohn, baldino, Mark Nobel, and Tony are trolling jackasses. They swarm us and we get gigged.
