I believe that there was a period of time a bit later during Bush's administration when the Democrats were basically portraying him as the anti-Christ and would have gone to almost any length to thwart him.

@Brandon9000,
Unfortunately it mostly a lot of talk and no action, they mostly just in the end, went along. Why do you think Bernie's message resonates with so many of the left?

@Baldimo,

I never said they had a "filibuster-proof" Senate, I said he had a majority in Congress for 2 years, that is a fact.

What good is a majority if the minority keep filibustering everything Obama tried to pass? After all that was their stated game plan going in which is also a fact.

It's no use, Rev. Any retelling of recent history that doesn't cast Obama as a dictator or socialist or some other damn thing but an effective, hardworking president is lost on Baldino's ilk.

In fairness to Baldimo, he did say that the Democrats had "almost a supermajority",[60 votes], in 2008-10, not a supermajority.

Quote Baldimo:
Quote:
Obama had a majority, almost a super majority for his first 2 years in office. It wasn't until 2010 when the GOP took the house back, that the events you describe took place.
http://able2know.org/topic/267070-214#post-6195948

Of course, if the minority party is going to decide it is there not to do good for the country, but to limit Obama to one term, then having "almost a supermajority" isn't going to do the majority party much good.

With normal governing, if one side is close to a supermajority, they can persuade a few members from the minority to go along. However, since the Republicans openly admitted they are out to get Obama, that tradition has gone out the window.

@Brandon9000,
But of course the GOP only tried to make "this President fail" from day one.

Damn Democrats!

I am very angry about this. had Bush been a dem, he would have been impeachdd at the very least, for his admin lying to the entire country. But Dems let him off the hook...all of them! Yet Reps make such a huge deal out of business as usual. It drives me nuts! The Gop are the sorriest losers in recent history and they keep on preaching to their choir, collecting their haters and throwing the good of the entire country umder the bus for their narrow victories. They are that really bad football team that doesnt care if they win the super bowl, as long as they win a game against their rival!

They make the poorest mooks think somehow they can be come "rich" and get the mooks to vote against their own interests: like education, a living wage, medical care.

@bobsal u1553115,
Many dream on, and don't remember that Trump inherited his wealth. Trump U is comical except for the fact that Barnum's "a sucker is born every minute" were most of the students. It's my understanding, they weren't even taught how to obtain a real estate license.

President Obama stuck around after last night's #POTUSonNewsHour to answer more questions. Here's his answer to a question about Second Amendment rights and gun control.

@Brandon9000,
I don't think words are your friend, whether they're "other" or not.

Bush is a war criminal, there was no legal basis for invading Iraq. That's not the worst of it, his monumental stupidity and ignorance meant the invasion was a colossal failure, ill thought out and badly resourced, and with piss poor intelligence.

IS is Dubya's legacy, and the melt down in wall street, tax cuts for wealthy war criminals and a collapsing infrastructure. The worst president you've ever had.

That's a hit piece, pure and simple. Johnson hid Democratic Texas state legislators to shut down a Rick Perry Rubber Stamp legislative session once.

"Texas Eleven
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Texas Eleven were a group of Texas Senate Democrats who fled Texas for Albuquerque, New Mexico for 46 days in 2003 aimed at preventing the passage of controversial redistricting legislation that was intended to benefit Texas Republicans. A group of Texas House representatives, dubbed the Killer Ds, had fled the state earlier that same summer for the same reason.

U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, then a powerful figure in Texas politics, advocated arresting the Texas Eleven, telling reporters that he supported using FBI agents or U.S. Marshals to arrest the runaway Democrats and bring them back to Austin, asserting that redistricting is a matter of federal concern.

Here's a more fair and balanced piece. Don't get me wrong. I will not vote third party, until the election system has been adjusted to allow a third party choice to be more than a spoiler vote. And then I do not see myself voting for a Gary Johnson.

@bobsal u1553115,
It's amazing to see the kind of people who seem to survive in US politics.
