@Region Philbis,
The GOP is working on limiting who can vote, including requiring owning real estate, a certain income level, years at a current address.

We'd have slavery back before they're done.

@Region Philbis,
A very similar thing is happening in Australia.

The truism is if you don't vote left at age 20 you have not heart - and if you vote left at 40 you have no head.

But it was never about age, it's about property/assets and the younger generations aren't able to be come asset rich (houses for example) so they aren't drifting to the 'asset' side of the political spectrum. A really interesting analysis from Mike Seccombe.

And for those not familiar with Australian politics - our Liberal Party is the equivalent of the Republicans in the US and the Tories in the UK.

@hingehead,
The way I always heard it was, anyone not socialist at 21 has no intellect, anyone still socialist at 31 has no imagination.

'It's not fair': 'Genius' MAGA pastor wants voting rights repealed because Democrats win elections

Apro-Trump Mississippi pastor is calling for stripping the right of the people to elect their U.S. Senators by creating what he says would be an Electoral College for each state, so Republicans can start winning elections again.

---------------

“The entire state [of Georgia] is conservatives, all rushing to the polls,” Vaughn continued, falsely.

“They came to the polls that day and blew the numbers out of the water. They were winning their state, they were turning their state in the right direction until they hit that blue area called Atlanta, Georgia,” he lamented. “Good try, all you great citizens of Georgia.”

“Your voice doesn’t matter because you don’t have the majority of the population,” he said, apparently tossing the bedrock of democracy: one person, one vote.

“So therefore, you really shouldn’t have even shown up to vote because we’re going to stop you in the population centers.”

“And I looked across that state, and I said, ‘You know what? Everyone in that state is a conservative except for those two blue dots.’ And that’s when it hit me like a stroke of genius: That’s what the Founding Fathers feared for the nation, but what they feared for the nation is happening in the states,” Vaughn announced, again, falsely.

So much for the Constitution. They just love democracy until it's in effect.

someone on FB wrote:
Two years left - I see the end of the republican party as we know it by 2024. Three people will be the chief killers.

Donald Trump - Trump has openly said if he does not get the nomination of the party 2024, he will "burn the country down." He means it, and he is still the de facto head of the party, but for how long we don't know. His base is dwindling, more and more they want to "move on" from Trump, but his hard core base will hang in there and back him unless he is convicted of any of the many indictments he is facing. More and more even his base is tired of his loser status and refusal to accept he lost 2020. His wanting to tear up the Constitution and be reinstalled as President is also up for "Loser of the Year" proposition.

Kevin McCarthy - McCarthy is by all accounts, wanting so much to be Speaker he is willing to give MJT a major position, allow the House to deflect off Trump by dissolving the 1/6 Committee and go full speed on the big waste of time investigating Hunter Biden. He'll probably put some village idiot like Jim Jordan as chairman of the Select Committee to investigate Hunter Biden's laptop, and another committee to investigate the investigators - 1/6 Committee, DOJ, FBI, and anyone who ever farted within a mile of Donald Trump. Real issues like inflation, the fracture of our country, the covering up of the 1/6 insurrection, and anything else not relevant to anything but throwing **** against the wall will not be seen. He will allow votes on such "popular" bills as essentially destroying Social Security, Medicare and Veterans' benefits that will just go down in the Senate or be vetoed by Biden.

Marjorie Taylor Greene - McCarthy will give MJT a powerful position in the House, where she will be a major cause of the demise of the 21st century version of the Whig Party of 1850. She already has spewed such nonsense as "if she had organized the 1/6 insurrection it would have not failed, and everyone would have been armed." She is ignorant, arrogant, and mouthy, all the traits needed to be the biggest embarrassment to this country and be the leading turnoff of every sane voter left who is a registered Republican.

The cast of characters goes on and on, Kari Lake, Matt Gaetz, Mike Pompeo, Ron DeSenseless, et al, who all will gladly join the circular firing squad. Anything is possible, but the "Red Tsunami" never happened. Fox News is abandoning Donald Trump, and the current trajectory of the next two years of a Republican House with a majority as thin as Jack Sprat with as little effect or influence as any House in history will be the "Do Nothing" House for the next two years. That could spell the end of the party.

We can not only hope, but without a doubt the push back by those living in the real world will be huge the next two years. Failing some unseen event, the republican party is done and they are pulling the plug on their own life support.

North Carolina Supreme Court rejects 'racially discriminatory' voter ID law and state electoral map

Quote:
The North Carolina Supreme Court on Friday knocked down a 2018 voter-identification law it said discriminated against Black voters and ordered a state Senate map be redrawn due to Republican partisan gerrymandering.

Both were 4-3 decisions along party lines, with all the court’s Democratic justices voting in the majority and all Republican justices dissenting. The decisions come just before the court flips to GOP control on Jan. 1, when there will be five Republican justices and two Democrats.

The court upheld a lower court’s 2021 ruling that a 2018 law requiring voters to present photo ID was unconstitutional. The majority opinion said that the lower court correctly found that the law “was motivated by a racially discriminatory purpose.”
